Chair
Dat EuroSonic zijn naam met trots en volkomen terecht draagt, blijkt uit vele dingen. Bijvoorbeeld uit het boeken van Chair, een groep uit een verre, oostelijke uithoek van Europa: Moldavië. En het is niet eens de eerste keer dat onze dappere boekers daar een band vandaan plukken. Is Chisineu het Seattle van het 21ste-eeuwse Europa? Nou nou, niet zolang de naam van die stad op drie verschillende manieren gespeld wordt in de bio van Chair. De groep is actief sinds 1995 en speelde niet alleen uitgebreid in Moldavië zelf, maar ook in enkele omringende landen. Prijzen winnen kan Chair ook, op toestanden als het Internationale Muziekfestival van Turkssprekende Landen in Bashkortostan (3e in 2001), en het Moldavisch-Duitse Vriendschapsfestival (3e in 2002). Zanger, gitarist en voortrekker Michael Kulev leidt zijn band met passie en charisma. And it is not the first time our brave bookers have managed to find a good band there. Is Chisineu the Seattle of 21st century Europe? Well, not as long as the name of the town is spelt in no less than three different ways in the Chair biography. Chair have been around since 1995 and have done numerous gigs in Moldavia as well as its surrounding countries. Chair is also a prize-winning name: they came third on the International Music Festival of Turkish speaking countries in Bashkortostan (2001) and ended on the same spot on the Moldavian-German Friendship Festival in 2002. Singer, guitarist and front man Michael Kulev leads his band with passion and charisma.
