| Ai ai ai, moet popmuziek dan altijd hard, luid, lawaaierig, bonkend
zijn? De schrijvers dezes worden ook al een dagje ouder, vooral
de oudste onder hen, en dan snakken ze wel eens naar de stilte of
anders wel naar iets wat daar dicht bij komt. Gelukkig heeft het
boekingspanel van EuroSonic aan de Geurtsens gedacht en het duo
Mouse geboekt. En dat is een akoestisch duo, bestaande uit zangeres
en ritmegitariste Martha Tilston en leadgitarist en ritme-, eh,
achtergrondzanger Nick Marshall. Ja, ook in het hypertrendy Engeland
is nog ruimte voor dit soort soms verstilde, altijd ademende en
goudeerlijke luisterpop met enige wortels in de folk. Marshalls
gitaar weet het publiek steevast te hypnotiseren, waarna Martha
met haar betoverend mooie stem de zaak al helemaal inpakt. Ook de
heftigse lawaaischoppers onder het EuroSonic-publiek zullen spontaan
stilvallen.

We are getting on a bit, you know, and that means we like a little
silence or something close to silence now and then. Fortunately,
the EuroSonic booking team had the wisdom to book the duo Mouse.
They are singer and rhythm guitarist Martha Tilston and lead and
rhythm guitarist and background singer Nick Marshall. Indeed, even
in the hyper trendy England there's room for this calm honest pop
with folk influences. Marshall's guitar can always hypnotize the
crowd after which Martha's enchanting voice will finish them off.
Even the roughest toughest EuroSonic goer will be silenced.
