| Okee, vorig jaar stond Relax ook al op Noorderslag. Maar sindsdien
is er wel wat gebeurd met deze live-hiphopband rond rapper Llewy
Is Sel. Hij verdiende zijn sporen als muzikant in allerlei 'normale'
bands, tot hi geroepen werd om de boodschap van de hiphop te verkondigen.
Maar wel met 'echte' instrumenten. Omdat Relax een live-hiphopband
is, besloot Llewy dat zijn groep maar meteen moest debuteren met
een live-album. Live @ Panama was dan ook een geslaagde coup, waarop
iedereen kon horen waar de sterke punten van Relax liggen: in elastieken,
met ouderwets vakmanschap vormgegeven grooves, waarop het goed toeven
is voor Llewy's vloeiende, intelligente raps. Callin Ye Name werd
maar meteen een hitje en het bezoek dat de groep aan Zuid-Afrika
bracht (komend voorjaar gaan ze weer) legde Relax ook al geen windeieren.

| Admittedly, Relax were on last year's Noorderslag as well. But
things have moved on for this hiphop act around rapper Llewy Is
Sel. He played in 'regular' bands before he moved to hiphop, which
he now plays on 'regular' instruments. And to stress the fact that
Relax is a live hiphop band, Llewy thought it would be a good thing
to have a live CD for a debut. Live @ Panama was indeed a successful
choice, as it clearly showed Relax's strong points. Elastic solid
grooves that make a good mattress for Llewy's fluent intelligent
raps. Callin Ye Name became an instant hit and the visit they paid
to South-Africa has done the band a world of good as well. Next
spring they're going again.
