Sêna
Prijzen winnen, dat kan Sêna Casita als geen ander. De jonge, multiculturele Tilburgse won in 1999 dezelfde lokale talentenjacht waarvan de beker een jaartje eerder door niemand minder dan Krezip mee naar huis werd genomen, Bij de Grote Prijs van Nederland bleek ze een jaar later de Beste Individuele Artiest te zijn. Ze schitterde op het Festival Mundial in haar woonplaats en trok op uitnodiging van dat festival zelfs door het niet naast de deur gelegen Burkina Faso. Haar muziek sluit daar enigszins bij aan. Haar creatieve partner is DJ Groove B, in wiens uitgekiende mix van soul, funk en jazz ook ruimte is voor Afrikaanse en Arabische invloeden. En dat sluit weer mooi aan bij de kleurrijk krullene stem van Sêna, die live wordt bijgestaan door een spectaculaire zeskoppige band. Ook in de teksten komt haar multiculturele achtergrond tot uiting, want haar ervaringen in de Derde Wereld en de problematiek van allochtone meiden komen ook aan bod.	If there's one thing Sêna Casita is good at, it's winning prizes. The young multicultural lady from Tilburg won the same talent contest in 1999 that Krezip won the year before. A year later she won Best Individual Artist at the Grote Prijs van Nederland. She played the Festival Mundial in Tilburg and was then invited for a tour in Burkina Faso. Her music can be seen in this light. Her creative partner is DJ Groove B, who provides an excellent mix of soul, funk and jazz with African and Arabic influences. Sêna's rich lithe voice is perfect for the music, as is her spectacular six-piece live band. Her multicultural background is reflected in her lyrics, when she sings about her experiences in the Third World and the problems of girls with a non-Dutch background living in the Netherlands.
