Balkan-Elektronica
De platen van Adi Lukovac & Ornamenti verscheen op het platenlabel Post War Sound. Voorwaar geen lege kreet, als je uit Bosnië komt. De wrede oorlog die Bosnië, en de rest van het voormalige Joegoslavië, nog maar een jaar of wat geleden teisterde, heeft diepe sporen getrokken door het land en ook door de jongerencultuur. Dansen is dan geen leeg vermaak, maar een tijdelijke bevrijding van de oorlog en de verwoestende herinneringen aan traumatische ervaringen. Adi Lukovac en de zijnen verwerken zulke ervaringen in een inventieve vorm van elektronica, waarin naast de meer voor de hand liggende invloeden ook elementen uit de traditionele Bosnische muziek een plek hebben. Alleen al daarom is hun muziek een bevrijdend, verre van vrijblijvend statement. Ook buiten de Balkan wordt hun krachtige stem gehoord: hun muziek sierde al menige hippe compilatie en mensen als Fun Da Mental en Gnawa Marokko doen mee op de laatste cd ‘Fluid’.

Adi Lukovac & Ornamenti’s records were put out on the Post War Sound label. Not a hollow phrase, if you’re a Bosnian. The cruel war that was fought in Bosnia and the rest of former Yugoslavia only years ago has left deep wounds in the country as well as in its youth culture. Here, dancing is not a mere pastime; it’s liberation from war and its devastating memories of traumatic experiences. Adi Lukovac and his companions put their experiences into an inventive type of electronics, containing aside the more normal influences also traditional Bosnian music. That alone makes their music a liberating, far from empty statement. Outside the Balkan too their powerful voice resounds, for they have appeared on numerous compilations and their last album ‘Fluid’ contains guest appearances by people like Fun Da Mental and Gnawa Marokko.
