Veel meer schrijven ze niet, of het moest wezen dat ze wel veel van de tv gezien hebben, zich beïnvloed achten door de films van John Carpenter, bij het musiceren steevast hun gevoel volgen en dat wij allemaal een klein groefje zijn op een enorme plaat. Hun single ‘Discussing Robots’ is een ouderwetse 7-inch-single met een wonderbaarlijk, betoverend liedje erop. Radiohead op zijn elektronisch, Depêche Mode en andere synthipop-overlevers van de vroege jaren tachtig, dat soort associaties dus.

That’s about all information you get from it, apart from the facts that they have seen a lot of television, are influenced by the films of John Carpenter, approach their music purely intuitively, and that we’re all but a groove on a giant record. Their single ‘Discussing Robots’ is an old-fashioned 7-inch-single with a wondrous, enchanting song on it. Think of Radiohead in an electronics mode, of Depêche Mode and other survivors of synthipop from the early eighties – that’s Birdpen.
