,,We hadden er nog mee kunnen kappen”, zeggen de mannen van
Donots in hun bio als ze aangeland zijn bij hun eerste schreden op
het ruige punkrockpad. Het is 1994, ze bestaan nog maar net en ze
spelen covers van Clash, Sex Pistols en Bad Religion. Maar ze hielden
niet op, nee, ze werkten zich in de tien daaropvolgende jaren op
tot één van Duitslands meer vooraanstaande vertegenwoordigers
van de punkgeest. Die krijgt bij hun gestalte in pittige songs vol
positief bedoelde boosheid. Dat recept bleek goed voor verscheidene
prachtplaten en dito optredens.

,,We could have quit then”, Donots say in their bio when describing
their first steps on the wild path of punk rock. It is 1994, they have
only just started and they’re playing covers by the Clash, Sex
Pistols en Bad Religion. But they did not quit, on the contrary, in
the ten years to follow they became one of Germany’s more eminent
representatives of the punk mentality. With their songs of positive
anger they’ve made several fantastic albums and done prestigious
concerts.
