Dat was even wonden likken, toen Relax er met een hele stal landgenoten uit werd getrapt bij de Nederlandse afdeling van platenmaatschappij Warner Music. Maar de groep van rapper Llewey Is Sel heeft zich glorieus hergegroepeerd en komt nu met een nieuwe plaat. Een studio-album deze keer en dat is verrassend, gezien de reputatie van Relax als live-hiphopband. Tot nu toe waren hun uitingen – enkele singles, het album Live @ Panama, de bijbehorende dvd – steevast op de planken opgenomen, voor een even veeleisend als dolenthousiast publiek. Maar in de studio wilde het even goed, zoals de nieuwe plaat Odeur De Clochard laat horen. Mèt Defunkt-trombonist Joe Bowie en Jacqueline Govaert van het ook al gewipte Krezip.

Wounds sure had to be licked when Relax and a whole bunch of other Dutch bands got kicked out of the Dutch department of record company Warner Music. But rapper Llewey is Sell’s gang have gloriously regrouped and now come up with a new album. Considering their reputation as a live hip hop act their choice for a studio album comes as a bit of a surprise. All previous releases (a couple of singles, their album Live @ Panama, and the accompanying dvd) were all recorded live before an equally demanding as wildly enthusiastic audience. Their album Odeur De Clochard however, is convincing proof that they are equally good if not better in place in the studio. With a little help from Defunkt trombonist Joe Bowie and Krezip’s Jacqueline Govaert (who were also got kicked out from Warner’s).
