In 2003 was Sioen nog een debutant zonder enige reputatie. Een jaar later stond hij op Rock Werchter, het grootste popfestival van onze zuiderburen. Het cliché ‘wat goed is komt snel’ is dus echt waar. De jonge singer-songwriter uit Gent zingt gevoelige liedjes over wat hem zoal bezighoudt en hij brengt ze met een prachtig kleurende begeleiding, waarin de viool van Renaud Ghilbert een belangrijke rol speelt. Zijn debuutalbum See You Naked dwong alom respect af. En waarom ook niet, want die liedjes van Sioen kruipen je ongemerkt onder de huid. Zijn nieuwe plaat komt in het voorjaar uit.

In 2003 this singer-songwriter from Gent was a debutant without any reputation whatsoever. One year later he played at Rock Werchter, the biggest pop festival in Belgium. The cliché ‘what’s good comes fast’ seems to be true once more. In the warm instrumentation of his sensitive songs Renaud Ghilbert’s violin plays a leading part. Full of songs that get under your skin, Sioen’s debut album See You Naked received wide acclaim. His new album is due next spring simultaneously in Belgium, Germany, France and Holland – where it will be put out by quality label Excelsior.
