Ooit speelden de mannen van Soul Tatttoo in een psychobillyband. Moet kunnen, maar niet voor lang. Nadat de ex-leden zich over heel Finland hadden verspreid, kwamen ze elkaar toch weer tegen en was Soul Tattoo een feit. De stijl is inmiddels een heel eind verschoven. Nu draait het allemaal om broeierige rock met enerzijds trekjes underground- en soul, anderzijds neigingen tot gothic en grunge en bovendien nog ondertonen van punk, country en blues uit de diepste diepten van de Mississippi-delta. Het vereist, kortom, nogal wat puzzelwerk om al die invloeden aan te wijzen, maar geloof ons: bij een optreden kom je daar niet aan toe, zo heftig gaan ze tekeer.

In a former life the Soul Tattoo members played in a psychobilly band. After breaking up and spreading across all of Finland, they ran into each other again, and before they knew what was happening they had founded Soul Tattoo. They shifted from psychobilly to brooding rock, encompassing some underground and soul leanings, but also hints of gothic and grunge and even a bit of punk rock, country and blues from the deepest depths of the Mississippi delta. To point out each of these elements in their songs is easier said than done, but believe us, at one of their live shows you won’t have time or breath to even start the effort.
