Ze horen ook wel een beetje bij de math metal: de even harde als progressieve stroming waarin de ingewikkelde maatsoorten soms op een schoolbord uitgetekend moeten worden, net als de manier waarop de complexe gitaarriffs over de grooves gelegd worden. Dat klinkt moeilijker dan het is, althans voor de luisteraar. Want Textures. Nederlands metaltrots, klinkt net zo hard, agressief en vanzelfsprekend als, zeg, de eerste de beste Motörhead-plaat, zodat je helemaal geen kans krijgt om je te storen aan zulke ingewikkeldheden. Polars is dan ook een albumdebuut om van te watertanden. Het buitenland hapt ook al gretig toe.

Or, if you will, math metal. Math metal is the equally hard as progressive genre with its bar types so complex the musicians have to write them out on blackboards. Equally complicated are the ways in with intricate guitar riffs are played over the groove. Not to worry though, for the listener it’s not all that difficult. Dutch metal pride The Textures sound just as loud and aggressive as any Motörhead album, so you won’t even have time to be bothered by such complexities. Polars is a stunning debut receiving plenty of international acclaim.
