Ieder jaar stijgt de spanning weer ten top. De grote zaal van De Oosterpoort is nooit zo dampend vol als op dat bijna heilige tijdstip, tegen elven ’s avonds op de grote Noorderslagdag. Wie krijgt nu weer de Popprijs? De Popprijs wordt uitgereikt aan de band of artiest die in het afgelopen jaar de belangrijkste bijdrage heeft geleverd aan de Nederlandse popmuziek. De prijs bestaat uit een bronzen beeld ontworpen door TM en een bedrag van € 10.000,--. De Popprijs 2003 ging naar Bløf. Andere Popprijswinnaars tot nu toe zijn Anouk, Arling & Cameron, Bettie Serveert, Marco Borsato, Herman Brood, Claw Boys Claw, Eboman, The Ex, Junkie XL The Nits, Osdorp Posse, Postmen, Matilde Santing, The Scene, DJ Tiësto, 2 Unlimited en Urban Dance Squad. De Popprijs is een initiatief van de BV Pop en wordt uitgereikt door Conamus, de organisatie ter ondersteuning van Nederlandse lichte muziek in binnen- en buitenland.
